Wendy's Library
A young mother with a baby in the NICU reached out to the Foundation about providing a small library of children’s books so parents can read to their babies and have their voices heard during this critical time. The very first library was delivered to Presbyterian Dallas. The Foundation is now providing a library to every NICU in DFW!
Donation to Help Boy Scouts
In September 2017, WPCF sponsored 10 Boy Scouts to receive the experience of attending a summer camp they would otherwise not be able to attend without this financial support.
A donation was made for the Summer camp scholarship through the Donald F. Walsh Jr. Golf Tournament held in Fall 2017.
Supporting Grace Children's Hospital
WPCF partnered with First United Methodist Church (Wendy's church) to support the Grace Children's Hospital in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti.
Board members presented Senior Pastor, Dr. Thomas O. Brumett, (a.k.a. "Pastor Tommy") with a check that will go directly to the hospital to provide medical needs to children and families of Haiti and Dominican Republic.
Establish Philanthropy Scholarship
WPCF Board members presented a $5,000 check to the McKinney Education Foundation for the newly created Wendy Pollard Scholarship.
The scholarship was awarded at the annual banquet held May 11th, 2018 to an outstanding high school senior who’s incredible work ethic and dedication to philanthropy embody the causes the foundation supports.
Sponsoring All Abilities Park
The board provided sponsorship for the construction of an All Abilities Park in McKinney, TX. The park is designed to be accessible to children with disabilities.
The park opened in June 2018.
Contribution to Cancer Healing Services
The Board made a contribution to an oncology fund at Spa Esoteric in McKinney, TX for local cancer patients to receive much needed skin and healing services while going through and recovering from chemotherapy, radiation and other cancer treatments.
The Hummingbird Scholarship
National Charity League is an organization exceptionally close to Wendy's heart as both of her daughters were local chapter members. The first annual Hummingbird Scholarship was awarded in April 2018 to an outstanding young lady with most accumulated service hours. An equal donation was also made to the local chapter.
Childhood Cancer Fundraiser
In spring 2018, the foundation sponsored a Dance-A-Thon held to raise money for the B+ foundation, an organization that raises funds for childhood cancer research and family support.
Sponsor Team for Fundraiser
The board sponsored a team participating in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk held in October 2017.
Donation to One of Wendy's Causes
In fall 2017, a donation was made to Journey of Hope; an organization that provides grief support counseling to children who have lost a parent. I was an organization where Wendy spent hours volunteering.
